The first (for me, as it actually is already the second one) festival day was going to an end but not before the big headliner Lacuna Coil had played. At 23:00 it was the time and the band members entered hooded the stage.
It was not the first gig at this festival for Lacuna Coil but the firs one was already 7 years ago. Much time in which three more albums were released. The band is momentarily on a club tour across Europe and was stopping at the Belgian Wieze however they did have less time available compared to normal shows (yes, at Wieze they have to finish always exactly on time, that happened also two years ago when Arch Enemy begun 15 minutes late but were not allowed to play their whole set till the end). Nevertheless there was a great cross section across all of their albums so that really for everybody there was something. No matter if it was "Heaven's A Lie" of the album "Comalies", "Closer" of "Carmacode" or "Upside Down" of their last CD "Dark Adrenaline".
The two singer Christina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro presented a terrific show, only characterized by their presence on stage. Who was looking for large light and pyro effects was wrong here. Especially fascinating was the accoustic part in which the band sitting on stools and garden chairs on stage and first played "Falling" and afterwards "Closer" whereby Christina was allocating it to a completely wrong album (it is already older than she thought of). Unfortunately that part was way too short and could have been more extended in my point of view.
Never mind as after that part it was again up to the promoters of the festival to enter the stage and present the completely surprised band a Metal Female Voices Award for the best album. After a short speech of thanks the quickly continued with the rest of the set. Althogh the band was not complete (bassist Marco Coti Zelati was still afflicted with an injury of his hand and the drummer Christiano Mozzati was also missing that evening) the rest was showing a more than convincing show. Great sound, impressive artists and really good moods at the audience. Better such an evening could not end!
