From the blazing sun, the day continued over in the Metal Dome across the way, where the British outfit As Everything Unfolds was warming up. The band had been shaken by tragedy just last year when their drummer Jamie Gowers passed away, but this summer they’re back on the festival circuit with Louis Doran filling in as their live drummer.
The set opened with something special: only three days earlier, the new song “Set In Flow” had been released, and this was its first-ever live performance in front of an audience. The ever‑energetic Charlie Rolfe ran and stormed across the stage nonstop, using her powerful voice to fire up the crowd, even if it wasn’t as large as it deserved to be. Founded back in 2013, the band — completed by guitarist Adam Kerr, keyboardist Jon Cassidy, and bassist George Hunt — played mostly tracks from their 2023 album "Ultraviolet", with only two songs from their 2021 debut "Within Each Lies The Other" added to the set. Musically, they fall somewhere in the alternative/progressive rock realm, and their sound pushed forward with plenty of drive. Inside the tent, the atmosphere rose from song to song, both on stage and in the crowd. People were singing along loudly and waving their arms through the air.
Like so many bands I saw at Graspop 2025, I hadn’t known them beforehand. All the more reason why their live performance surprised and impressed me in such a positive way. It was a genuinely strong act that could easily grow even further in the future. The potential is definitely there, and I’m curious to see where their journey will lead.
