20.05.2024 Zoo at Duisburg
(Canon EOS R6 Mark II with Canon RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM)
After several years, I visited the zoo in Duisburg again and I must say that a lot has changed. Like in many other zoos, the enclosures here have been enlarged and made more natural, so that not only did you have a good view of the animals, but they also had more space including retreat options.
The zoo is very diverse and also has a great aquarium. Until recently, a South American river dolphin lived in its building, which I was able to admire during my last visit. However, since it has now passed away, its enclosure/pool is now inhabited by several manatees. Furthermore, the zoo has the unique feature of consisting of two parts connected by a bridge over the A3 motorway. During my visit, construction was still ongoing at the seal enclosure, and surely more adjustments will follow during the next years. Overall, I can say that it was a worthwhile visit, even though I personally like other zoos more.
