01.08.2014 Bring Me The Horizon
Wacken Open Air XXV
Wacken (Germany)
(Pentax K-5 with Sigma AF 70-200mm 2.8 EX DC APO HSM II)
After the awesome gig of Five Finger Death Punch there was the complete opposite by the British Bring Me The Horizon. The five guys from Sheffield had metal core from their current album “Sempiternal” with them. Except two songs they played only stuff of this extremely hyped long-player.
Basically you get the feeling of having a school band on stage but the truth is that they already paint the metal core scene red for more than 10 years now. Singer Oliver Sykes does not make oneself conspicuous by excessively posing on stage just like others do. He just tries to impress with his voice. That was very present but could not really enthuse me just like the rest of the gig was very unspectacular. Mainly the guys were standing around running through their set. Surprisingly in front of the stage everything was extremely lively.
Anyhow, it was just a gig to forget about. Better quickly head for the True Metal Stage as there Heaven Shall Burn is already waiting and at them it will burn for sure on and in front of the stage!
