It has been three years meanwhile since Oomph! and Dero Goi went separate ways. After Andreas Crap and Robert Flux initially continued to compose on their own, after some time Der Schulz joined them as new singer. 2023 the first album “Richter Und Henker” with the new constellation was released. From that the opener “Soll Das Liebe Sein?” was played and the band entered the stage dressed in fur coats. Quite brave as the sun was burning and it was oppressively hot.
So, it was not taking long time until the coats were replaced by thinner jackets which still was impressive to me due to the temperatures. Surprisingly, they were progressing through their set mainly using the older musical works of the band which were working quite well with Der Schulz. No matter whether it was “Labyrinth” or “Sandmann” of the 2008 album “Monster”, the audience was singing the songs along loudly. So, the guys on stage did not need to spend many efforts in order to keep moods up high. You could really see how much fun they had and so they were posing excessively. Unfortunately, they had quite an early slot and due to that not so much time available. Therefore, the announcements were kept short and they concentrated onto the music. Nevertheless, the end was there quite suddenly when “Augen Auf!” was played. But that was supported loudly by the audience so that the band did not need to sing a lot.
This gig was waited with bated breath for by me as I wanted to get to know how well Der Schulz could replace Dero Goi. I had seen Oomph! already several times and have to say: Kudos! A really great performance and at no point during the concert I wished that Goi would be back with them. Please do not understand me wrong: I did not say that Goi was worse or Der Schulz better, this also due to the two being quite different. It was different but very suitable. So, I still like Oomph! unchanged very much and the audience seemed to have been of the same opinion. In each case the atmosphere had been excellent.
