Sunny meeting of the dark alternative scene
On second weekend in August the time had come: The first time on the M'era Luna festival at Hildesheim. The big meeting of the dark alternative scene at best weather. Temperatures were not yet that high but the sun was burning permanently and so there was only one thing to do: drinking, drinking and again drinking (but of course only very little alcohol). On Saturday the day started for me after that I had already been on the festival area to listen to the reading of Lydia Bennecke on Friday evening, with Schwarzer Engel, who, although it was still quite early, delivered a very impressive performance in front of a respective audience. Also Alex Wesselsky was luckily healthy again an so he could play through some older Megaherz classics together with his men. Also Oomph! with new front man and Saltatio Mortis were delivering the usual good gigs. Only the one from Hämatom was a little bit disappointing. Due to technical issues they could only start with 15 minutes delay and this time was lacking on their set so that it was quite short. But therefore, it has been even more bursting with energy. Highlight of the day was surprisingly for me the show of London After Midnight which I did not plan for at all in the beginning. But I found it that fascinating that I made a compromise by changing shortly before the end of their performance to the show of ASP of which I missed the first songs. Also ASP did not disappoint me so that in the end it was from music point of view a really successfull Saturday.
